Printing it so it actually scans
- Keep the white margin around the code, it is part of the code
- Print at 2cm or larger for a handheld scan, bigger for a shopfront
- Dark code on a light background, never the other way round
- Choose Q or H if it will be printed on something that gets scuffed
- Test it with two different phones before you print a thousand
Higher error correction is not free. Q and H fit less data into the same physical size, so the modules get smaller and a low-resolution print can become harder to read, not easier. M is the right default for anything printed cleanly on paper.
This code never expires
It is a static QR code. It encodes your link directly rather than pointing at a redirect we control, which means nothing we do can ever break it and there is no account that can lapse. The trade is that you cannot change where it points after printing, so check the number before you commit it to a sign.
