How to use WhatsApp for business in Oman
In Oman a customer is more likely to send you a WhatsApp message than an email, whether you run a café, a clinic or a contracting firm. Doing it well is not about software first. It is about seven decisions, and most of them are free. Here they are in order.
1. Pick the right WhatsApp product
There are three real options, and they suit different businesses. Many businesses start with the first and move only when a real limit appears.
| Option | Cost | Handles | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| WhatsApp Business app | Free to download | One phone plus up to 4 linked devices | A shop or office where one or two people answer |
| A shared inbox that links to your number | A subscription, for example Dardasha at OMR 4.900 a year | A whole team, several numbers, an API | A team that answers customers who write first |
| The official WhatsApp Business API | A provider subscription plus Meta’s per-message fees | Large teams, approved templates, green tick eligibility | Brands that start conversations at volume |
2. Use a number the business owns
Register WhatsApp on a line in the company’s name, not on a staff member’s personal SIM. The number is the address customers save. If it belongs to a person, the customers belong to that person.
3. Complete the business profile
Fill in the business name, category, address, working hours, website and a short description in Arabic and English. Add your catalog if you sell products. The profile is the first thing a new customer checks to decide whether the number is real.
4. Put the number where customers start
Add a click-to-chat link and a QR code to your Instagram bio, your Google Business Profile, your invoices and your shopfront. A link that opens a chat with a message already written brings in conversations that start warm. Our free tools make both in a minute, with no account.

5. Answer fast, including after hours
Set a greeting message and an away message in the app, or keyword auto-replies in a shared inbox. An after-hours reply that says when you will answer is better than silence. Keep saved replies for the five questions you get every day.
6. Decide who answers
One phone on one desk breaks when a second person joins. Decide early whether you will use linked devices, Meta’s paid multi-agent feature or a shared inbox. Our guide to sharing one number with a team compares them.
7. Send broadcasts only to people who asked
A broadcast to customers who bought from you is a service. The same message to a list you bought is how numbers get reported and restricted. Split lists by what people bought, send less often than you want to, and tell people how to stop. On the official API, each marketing message to an Omani number costs USD 0.0341.
Frequently asked questions
Is WhatsApp Business free in Oman?
The WhatsApp Business app is free to download. The official API is not: Meta charges per message and providers charge a subscription. Our Oman pricing guide lists the current rates.
Can I message customers who have not messaged me?
From the app you can message any number, but mass messages to strangers get reported, and reports get numbers restricted. On the official API you must use an approved template, and Meta charges for it.
Should I use my personal number for the business?
No. Use a number that belongs to the business. When a personal number leaves with its owner, the customer relationships leave with it.
